Students in Action was established in response to the need for volunteers in the Ames community. Led by a student coordinator through the Volunteer Center of Story County, the organization Students in Action gives high school and college students in Story County the opportunity to develop leadership skills, volunteer experience and philanthropic behavior while helping people their community.
Mission/Objectives
“We build strong community by inspiring, educating and mobilizing volunteers in Story County.”
- Connect student volunteers with volunteer opportunities in the Ames community and throughout Story County
- Promote student volunteering and community involvement.
- Recognize student volunteers.
- Educate student volunteer leaders.

Engagement – we provide opportunities for service and personal growth through sharing skills, interests, and talents.

Membership
Currently, Students in Action has 6 regularly active members and many every-now-and-then student volunteers. Membership is entirely free and only involves participating in volunteer events, parades, and fundraisers.

Functions
- Research and organize volunteer opportunities around Ames and throughout Story County
- Brainstorm possible community event and volunteer opportunity related topics which have yet to be implemented.
- Provide a pastime for students which is fulfilling, productive, and beneficial to the community
